Your 2013 Coaches

Coach Ryan Smith is in his 4th season with the Montreat Cavaliers, an NAIA baseball program in Montreat, NC. Coach Smith's responsibilities include serving as the infield instructor, pitching coach, and assisting in recruiting while also holding the responsibility of 3rd Base Coach.
Coach Smith also serves as Head JV Coach at Montreat. Ryan Smith has served as the Head Coach of the Asheville Redbirds Summer Baseball Program of the SCBL for the past 4 summers. During the 2010 summer, Coach Smith led the Redbirds to a division title. During the 2008-2009 season, Coach Smith served as a Volunteer Assistant with Mars Hill College, where he attended and played from 2004-2008, earning a BS Degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Sports Management. While at Mars Hill, Coach Smith's responsibilities included: working with outfielders and hitters, coaching 1st base, and assisting in recruiting. Ryan is originally from Stallings, NC.

Coach Daniel Coffey is in his first season with the Catawba Valley Bucs Baseball team. Coach Coffey comes to Catawba Valley after completing his collegiate career at Mount Olive College where he played from 2010-2012. He played one year of baseball at Louisburg College in 2009.
At Mount Olive, Coach Coffey helped lead the team to three straight appearances in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals. In 2011 his team won the Southeast Region and finished 3rd in the NCAA Division II World Series. Coffey was elected to the World Series All-Tournament Team in 2011.
